Hello Friend,
What my heart wants to tell you is this, letting go has nothing to do with cleaning out closets or clearing unhealthy habits. It’s about understanding the need for compromising with the moment.
The rules of letting go were simple: let go of things, thoughts, yard waste, dust and debris, anything that took up space. If it didn’t serve my forward motion or support my rhythm for the year it had to go. Instead I learned a deeper lesson, there is a difference between attempting perfection (soul) and actually expecting achievement of perfection (ego).
We cannot expect from ourselves what we never had to start with; we must create perfection through our spiritual efforts. Our ideal of perfection is the soul, not perfection of the ego which relies on the material world to inform it’s standards. We will never meet the standards created by the ego because they come from a poisoned well.
Finding the ideal
Desiring to aspire to the perfection of Spirit is a worthy conversation, one I had with myself as I observed my attachment to ‘things’. I aspire to be more of my divine self daily, this is why I created 12 challenges for myself this year.
By attempting to obtain an individualized form of perfection we must know there is a form for which perfection is possible, and as such, an ideal which we can aspire to needs to be formulated.
Lucky for us we have spiritual and religious groups that world over that have created standards that we can utilize for our own needs. For myself, I’ve chosen virtues that deliver me to a place of peace when I meditate on their origin's.
Compromising with the moment
Perfection is also about self discovery. The ideal we aspire to obtain will look different than the ideas of perfection that ego projects to distract us from our goals. Knowing these distinctions is a key aspect of letting go and welcoming a new ideal into life.
When we are ruled by ego’s idea of perfection we limit our ability to compromise with the moment. This is so important to understand. Each moment is not fixed, it’s fluctuating based on the thoughts and actions of self.
This compromise is vital to working with the spirit of the moment. We cannot glimpse the perfection found in the Nature of the Spirit if we are not flexible in our approach to any endeavor.
Items that take up space inhibit me from creating compromise in moments where it is needed. This is true of ideas and people too. In order for our work as souls to assist in our evolution and in extension our community, state, nation, and world, we must learn to offer the ideal of perfection found in that which does not resist change but welcomes it.
Because if we don’t let go of what needs to be released from our life, we cannot welcome what is intended to arrive.
One day at a time
We can do better, for ourselves and most importantly for each other, when we embrace perfection as a transcendence of ego towards a greater purpose that embraces ideals which stimulate the growth of the soul. Daily practice of staying in a personal rhythm, looking for ways to welcome the compromise of the moment, discovering what ideals of perfection mean personally are all steps towards a better life.

If you are just joining me here this is my work on the process of challenging oneself in personal discovery.
Beautifully written. I too am in the process of learning a different perspective of letting go. I noticed that as I go through my day, I would hold on to every little moment. Every little experience or exchange. This was anxiety. I’ve been learning to let go of the moment while in the moment, so that I can relax and be present in the moment. It’s definitely an ongoing process 😆
